consequences of immigration for children, schools, and communities
Jacob Hibel is an associate professor of sociology and faculty member at the Center for Poverty Research. His research focuses on the causes and consequences of childhood educational inequalities, including those related to poverty, disability, race/ethnicity, immigrant generation status, and spatial segregation. Jacob Hibel's research includes the study of large-scale immigration's consequences for children, schools, and communities. In particular, he examines community-level effects, such as the consequences of living and attending school in an immigrant-rich community versus one with lower historical immigration levels. He is also currently conducting research that expands to early educational inequalities arising from racial/ethnic disparities in young children's academic self-efficacy.
